This wraps Microsoft's MarkItDown tool so you can convert documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDFs into Markdown without installing anything. It handles the usual suspects like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plus images with OCR, audio transcription, and even YouTube URLs. The uvx runner means first use downloads dependencies but after that it's quick. Output quality depends on source formatting, and for gnarly PDFs you can point it at Azure Document Intelligence for better extraction. Good for when you need to process varied file types into a consistent format for documentation or analysis without maintaining a bunch of conversion libraries.
