This separates the "should we source this?" question from the raw data collection step. It takes supply signals (quotes, supplier sheets) and demand proof (search trends, marketplace data) and gives you a structured go/no-go memo instead of pretending incomplete evidence is a confident answer. The core discipline is flagging missing layers openly: if you don't have competition shape or unit economics pressure, it tells you that instead of making something up. Most useful when you're validating a product idea, checking a supplier opportunity against real demand, or comparing a shortlist without collapsing judgment and data gathering into one messy step.
