This is the bridge between "I have a research direction" and "I have a concrete proposal to execute." It runs in two phases: first, you generate up to 21 idea variations by systematically changing technique, domain, and formulation. Then you run pairwise Elo tournaments across four quality dimensions to find the strongest candidate without needing to juggle everything in your head at once. It's designed to solve the twin problems of committing too early to your first idea or getting stuck in endless brainstorming. Works best after you've used something like research-ideation to nail down a direction but need to pick the specific approach worth pursuing.
