Summary
Gives Claude access to Perplexity's API for web searches and research tasks. You get four modes: quick answers for current events, deep research for comprehensive reports, advanced reasoning for complex analysis, and raw search results when you need URLs and snippets. The research and reason modes use Perplexity's thinking models, which means you can strip out the reasoning tags to save tokens if you want. Honestly most useful when you need Claude to pull real-time information or do multi-step research that benefits from Perplexity's web access. Requires your own API key, supports proxy configuration, and lets you specify country codes for regional results.
