This gives you a proper severity-by-likelihood matrix for triaging legal issues, with severity ranked 1-5 (negligible to critical) and likelihood ranked the same way. You multiply them to get a risk score, then the skill maps that to green/yellow/orange/red categories with specific escalation paths. Green risks stay with the team, yellow gets mitigation plans and active monitoring, orange goes to senior counsel, red triggers immediate GC/C-suite escalation and outside counsel. The framework includes percentage thresholds tied to deal value and clear guidance on when to loop in the board or notify insurers. It's opinionated about process, which is exactly what you want when you're trying to standardize how a legal team handles intake.
