If you need diagrams in Claude, this is the production-grade option. It generates draw.io XML and exports to PNG/SVG/PDF locally via the desktop CLI, no browser automation. The standout feature is the shape library tooling: shapesearch.py knows 10,000+ official shapes (AWS, Azure, Cisco, UML, BPMN) and aiicons.py pulls brand logos for LLMs and AI tools that draw.io doesn't include. It handles the tedious stuff well: auto-repairs draw.io's broken PNG chunks, validates structure before export, supports style presets, and includes import graph extractors for Python/JS/Go/Rust codebases. Requires the desktop app installed, and note that sandboxed macOS environments can crash the CLI, so you'll want a proper shell.
