Connects Claude to the World Air Quality Index API with a free shared key so you can skip the signup. Exposes three tools: look up current AQI by lat/lon, fetch data for a specific station UID, or search stations by city name. Hosted by Pipeworx as a streamable HTTP endpoint, so there's no local setup. Useful when you need real-time air quality data in a workflow without managing your own WAQI token. The gateway also supports plain English queries through ask_pipeworx if you don't want to call tools directly.
WAQI MCP — World Air Quality Index (free key)
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 673+ live data sources.
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|

Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):
{
"mcpServers": {
"waqi": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/waqi/mcp"
}
}
}
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway for access to all 673+ data sources:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Waqi data" })
The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
