Connects Claude to the MITRE Common Weakness Enumeration database through Pipeworx's gateway. You get seven tools: pull individual weakness, category, or view records, traverse parent and child relationships, explore full descendant trees, and query relationships between CWEs. Useful when you're doing security reviews, need to look up vulnerability classifications, or want to explore how different weakness patterns relate to each other. Can call tools directly or use the ask_pipeworx wrapper to query in plain English. Runs over streamable HTTP, so no local setup required. Part of Pipeworx's broader gateway that connects to 673+ data sources if you need more than just CWE lookups.
MITRE CWE API MCP.
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 673+ live data sources.

Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):
{
"mcpServers": {
"mitre-cwe": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mitre-cwe/mcp"
}
}
}
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway for access to all 673+ data sources:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Mitre Cwe data" })
The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
