Connects Claude to any LibreTranslate instance for open source machine translation. Exposes two tools: detect_language returns ranked language candidates with confidence scores, and list_languages shows what your endpoint supports. Part of the Pipeworx gateway ecosystem, so you can either run it standalone or access it through their unified gateway alongside 250+ other data sources. Ships with an ask_pipeworx wrapper that lets you query in plain English instead of calling tools directly. Useful when you need translation without vendor lock-in or want to self-host your language detection pipeline.
LibreTranslate MCP — open-source machine translation (BYO endpoint)
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 673+ live data sources.
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
detect_language | Detect the source language of a piece of text. Returns ranked language candidates with confidence. |
list_languages | List languages supported by the configured LibreTranslate instance. |
Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):
{
"mcpServers": {
"libretranslate": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/libretranslate/mcp"
}
}
}
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway for access to all 673+ data sources:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Libretranslate data" })
The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
