Wraps the Cat Facts API and gives you three tools: get_fact for a single random cat fact, get_facts for pulling multiple at once, and list_breeds to search or list cat breeds with origin and coat details. No authentication required. Runs through Pipeworx's gateway, which also offers an ask_pipeworx natural language interface if you'd rather skip calling tools directly. Useful if you're building demos, testing MCP integrations, or need throwaway data that's more interesting than Lorem Ipsum. The breed lookup could work for pet apps or educational tools, though the API itself is pretty bare bones.
Cat Facts MCP — wraps Cat Facts API (free, no auth)
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 673+ live data sources.
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
get_fact | Get a random cat fact. Returns the fact text and character length. Use get_facts to retrieve multiple facts at once. |
list_breeds | Search cat breeds by name or list all available breeds. Returns breed name, country of origin, coat type, and pattern details. |
get_facts | Get multiple random cat facts at once. Specify count (e.g., 5). Returns array of fact texts with character lengths. |
Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):
{
"mcpServers": {
"catfacts": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/catfacts/mcp"
}
}
}
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway for access to all 673+ data sources:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English:
ask_pipeworx({ question: "your question about Catfacts data" })
The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
